Classical, Weekender Pops and Inside the Classics subscribers who renew before the early renewal deadline (as indicated on their renewal form) are rewarded with an additional benefit—Flex Tickets. The new Flex Ticket program gives subscribers an opportunity to enjoy another Minnesota Orchestra concert of their choice or to bring along a friend or family member to an existing concert in their series.
Here’s how the Flex Ticket Program works:
- Subscribers who renew their series by early renewal deadline (deadlines vary by series, call for details), will receive one Flex Ticket for every 6 Classical concerts in their series. Inside the Classics and Weekender Pops series are each issued one Flex Ticket per series ticket purchased.
- Flex Tickets are redeemable for ANY exchangeable Minnesota Orchestra concert within the season (September 18, 2008– June 27, 2009).
- Flex Tickets will be mailed with series tickets as a physical reminder. We do not need the ticket back when redeemed for a specific concert date. When you redeem your Flex Ticket, we will send you tickets for your selected concert date.
- Flex Tickets expire at the end of the subscription season (June 27, 2009)
- Flex Tickets are designed to give subscribers an extra ticket for a comparable seat location as their series tickets.
- Flex Tickets have the same value as the series tickets you purchased. So changing dates, products or price levels can cause a difference in cost.
- Flex Tickets are subject to normal exchange policies including ticket-for-ticket exchanges and unlimited, free exchanges for all series tickets up to one hour prior to the concert. Note: there are no exchange fees for subscribers with the exception of a $4.75 fee applied to exchanges occurring day of concert.
- Subscribers with unused Flex Tickets at the end of the season will be mailed a tax-deductible contribution receipt for the value of the Flex Ticket.

A: One Flex Ticket will be issued for every 6 Classical concerts in your series. Inside the Classics and Weekender Pops subscribers are each issued 1 Flex Ticket.

A: Yes, you will receive a Flex Ticket in the mail with your series tickets as a physical reminder. We do not need the ticket back when you redeem it for concert tickets.
Q: Do I get a Flex Ticket for my Young Listener subscription?
A: Young Listener tickets are highly discounted at $10 per ticket and not eligible for the Flex Ticket Program.
Q: Can I give it to a friend?
A: You should feel free to invite a friend or family member using the Flex Ticket or pass along the Flex Ticket as a gift if you’d like. Note: when that person redeems the Flex Ticket for a specific concert, it will be associated with your account and series. However, we can easily mail that ticket to your friend or put it in will call under their name for pick up.
Q: When does my Flex Ticket expire?
A: Flex Tickets expire at the end of the subscription season (June 27, 2009).
Q: Can I redeem them for any concert? Are there any additional costs?
A: Your Flex Tickets can be redeemed for any exchangeable Minnesota Orchestra concert between September 2008 and June 2009 with no additional fees charged. Flex Tickets have the same value as your series tickets so changing dates, products or price levels can cause a change in cost. The Flex Ticket program was designed to give you an extra ticket for a comparable type of concert and seat location as your series tickets. If you choose a more expensive night or seat, money will be due when you redeem the Flex Ticket. However, if you choose a less expensive concert or seat location, there will be a leftover value that can be “banked” on an exchange voucher for a future purchase.
- Redeemable Sep '08-Jun '09 for Classical, Pops, Inside the Classics, Holiday and select Presentations
- Subject to normal exchange policies
- Changing dates, products or price level can cause change in cost
- No extra or penalty fees to exchange Flex Tickets
Q: Can I use my Flex Ticket for a Sommerfest concert or summer presentation?
A: Your Flex Tickets are redeemable for any exchangeable Minnesota Orchestra concerts between September and June. Flex Tickets expire at the end of the subscription season, and like Bonus Vouchers, are not eligible for summer programs.
Q: Can I redeem it at any time?
A: Flex Tickets may be redeemed for concert tickets beginning with Subscriber Courtesy Days occurring the week of August 4-8, 2009 (not Priority Days in June). Tickets will be mailed along with your subscription package in early August 2008. Flex Tickets follow our standard exchange policy. We offer unlimited, free exchanges for all your series tickets with the exception of a $4.75 fee applied to exchanges occurring on the day of a concert.
Q: Can I use my Flex Ticket along with a special offer/ promo?
A: Flex tickets are series tickets and as such are already discounted and cannot be combined with another offer.
Q: What seats are available to me?
A: The Flex Ticket program was designed to give you an extra ticket for a comparable type of concert and seat location as your series tickets. You may choose from any exchangeable Minnesota Orchestra concert between September 2008 and June 2009 and any seat location that is available. If you choose a more expensive night or seat, money will be due when you redeem the Flex Ticket. However, if you choose a less expensive concert or seat location, there will be a leftover value that can be put on an exchange voucher for a future purchase.
Q: What happens to leftover money from Flex Ticket exchanges?
A: Leftover money from Flex Ticket redemption will be put into an Exchange Voucher and can be used for a future purchase later in the season.
Q: Why can’t I have price one/best seats without paying more?
A: The program has changed. You now have greater choice and flexibility in the number and type of concerts to choose from. However, the Flex Ticket does have the same value and price level associated with it as your series tickets. If you would like to sit in a higher price level, there will be an amount due. For most concerts, price one is sold out to other subscribers.
Q: How much will an upgrade cost?
A: You will be charged the correct relative price for your exchange. Flex Tickets have the same value as your series tickets so changing nights, products or price levels can cause a change in cost. The Flex Ticket program was designed to give you an extra ticket for a comparable type of concert and seat location as your series tickets. If you choose a more expensive night or seat, money will be due when you redeem the Flex Ticket. However, if you choose a less expensive concert or seat location, there will be a leftover value that can be put on an Exchange Voucher for a future purchase.
Q: Can I combine my two Flex Tickets into one so I can get a better seat?
Flex Tickets follow our standard exchange policy, including a ticket-for-ticket redemption. If you would like to sit in a more expensive seat location, there will be an additional cost for each seat.
Q: Can I exchange my Flex Ticket once I’ve redeemed it for a concert?
A: Yes, we offer unlimited, free exchanges for all your series with the exception of a $4.75 fee applied to exchanges occurring on the day of a concert.
Q: Does this work like an EZ ticket?
A: A Flex Ticket functions like an EZ ticket in that it is assigned to a particular price scale and is redeemable into all exchangeable Minnesota Orchestra concerts in that same price scale without a change in price. The difference is that a Flex Ticket is not sold as a package, but is attached to a subscription as a benefit for Advance and Early Renewal. There is no additional cost to you as a subscriber and a Flex Ticket cannot be purchased on its own.
Q: How do you determine the value of the Flex Ticket? Does my series cost more now?
A: The value of a six concert series without a Flex Ticket is the same as the value of a six concert series with a Flex Ticket. The Flex Ticket does not increase the cost of the series because it is an added benefit that you received for renewing your series before the Early Bird deadline. The value of the individual event tickets is determined by dividing the total series price by the total number of event tickets, including the Flex Ticket.
Cost of six concert series + Flex = Cost of six concert Series – Flex
Series Cost (w/o fees) / # of Tickets = Ticket Value (average)
Q: Since the Flex Ticket has value now, how does that affect exchanges? Do I have to pay more to exchange because the value of my tickets is lower this year?
A: Your exchanges will not cost more because of a “lower” average ticket price than a series without a Flex Ticket. We have built into our ticketing system the capability to know if you have a Flex Ticket, or not, in your series, and you will be charged the correct relative price for your exchange.
Q: Can I just skip the Flex Ticket and make my series cheaper?
A: The Flex Ticket is an added benefit for renewing before the early renewal deadline (deadlines vary by series, call for details). It does not increase the cost of your series. The value of a six concert series without a Flex Ticket is the same as the value of a six concert series with a Flex Ticket. However, we could certainly send you a receipt for a tax-deductible contribution for the value of the Flex Ticket if you decide you do not wish to use it.
Q: What if I end up not using my Flex Ticket, can I get tax credit since it now has value?
A: Yes. If you do not use your Flex Ticket by the end of the season you will receive a tax-deductible contribution receipt in the mail.
Q: What discount is being applied to my Flex ticket?
A: Whatever discount was applied to your series at the time of purchase translates to the value associated with the Flex Ticket. For example, if you had a 10% discount on your series, all of your series tickets including the Flex Ticket have that same 10% discount.
Q: Are there subscription packages that are not eligible for the Flex Ticket program?
A: Yes. The Flex Ticket program is designed as an early renewal benefit and is not eligible for the following packages: Create Your Own Series, Quartet Series, Chamber Series, Jazz Series and EZ Tickets.
