How do I start?
There are a variety of ways to plan a future gift for
the Orchestra and the type of gift you choose could
affect your tax or estate planning. Our planned giving
staff is happy to work with you and your legal advisor
to help you accomplish your charitable goals. For more
information about ways of giving, please contact Stacy
Johnson at (612) 371-7137 to receive helpful materials
to share with your advisor.
What information will my attorney need to include the Minnesota Orchestra in my will or trust?
Your attorney will ask for our legal name "Minnesota Orchestral Association" and address, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403.
A bequest may be designated for general support, permanent endowment, or for another purpose. Many friends prefer that their bequest is used to meet the Association's greatest needs at the time the gift is realized. Some individuals designate a residue of their estate or name the Orchestra as a contingent beneficiary in the event that a loved one predeceases them.
May I designate my gift for a specific area of interest?
The Association's planned giving staff welcomes the opportunity to work with you and your advisors in planning gifts which help you realize your musical dreams for the Orchestra and our community. Named endowments and designated funds may be established for a variety of purposes.
For example, perhaps you first became a music lover at a Minnesota Orchestra Young People's Concert. Your gift can help ensure that our educational programs continue to thrill thousands of children each year with great musical experiences. Do you have a passion for great pianists? Perhaps a gift to establish a fund for outstanding keyboard guest artists would appeal to you.
To designate your gift for a special purpose, please talk with a member of our planned giving staff.
Should I notify the Minnesota Orchestral Association of my intention to include the organization in my estate plans?
We welcome the opportunity to thank friends who have planned future gifts to benefit the Minnesota Orchestra. These individuals are recognized as members of our Laureate Society. Our Laureates are recognized in Association publications and learn more about the Orchestra through a variety of meaningful Laureate activities. While information you share about your intentions remains confidential, you have the satisfaction of knowing that your example may encourage others as well. If you prefer, you may enjoy membership privileges while remaining publicly anonymous.
