In June 2005, Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra concluded the season by recording the second disc in the Orchestra's all Beethoven cycle on BIS. Released in January 2005, the first album in the five-disc, five-year series met with enormous critical acclaim.

On April 26, 2004, Osmo Vänskä led the Viva City Orchestra and a chorus of more than 600 Minneapolis elementary students singing “Song of Peace,” from Finlandia. The concert launched the Minnesota Orchestra's new upbeat education program.
